The sort utility can sort in month order, if you use 
  /specfile=seq.srt.

Where seq.srt is a file containing:

/collating_sequence=(sequence=("AN","EB","AR","PR","AY","UN","UL,"UG",
"EP","CT","OV","EC"," ","~"),FOLD)


If you haven't guessed, the uper case chars in quotes are the last two
characters of each month.
