This directory contains the uucp map source files, as distributed via 
Usenet.  It is not guaranteed to be complete.  See README. for details
on the format of these files.  See also the pathalias documentation,
elsewhere in the VMSNET tree.  

On Unix systems, the file name format is x.xxx.xx.n.  Since VMS allows only 
one period in a file name, we have renamed them.  The files are distributed 
in "shar" (shell archive) format; files in this form can be read and "unpacked"
by UNSHAR.EXE.  Our version of UNSHAR has an option to convert all but the first
period in the file name to a hyphen, and our version of pathalias knows about 
this change as well.  

Before running MAKEPATHS you should create a small U-file (the name
does not matter as long as it starts with a U; U.mysitename will do)
which describes your connections to your neighbor systems.  See
