Sorry to those who know this already, but I've seen enough postings like this to warrant posting this information. The UUCP - BITNet gateway is at Penn State University, a machine called psuvax1. psuvax1 supports the path/domain syntax as defined in RFC 976, so, to reach bitnet from UUCP, the address to use is this: path!to!psuvax1!host.BITNET!user In the above case, a plausible address to use would be ihnp4!psuvax1!yalevm.BITNET!user For information about BITNET, send mail to info@BITNIC. I have never tried to get any info from there, so I don't know if you need to use a special format like the ones the CSNet info-server and netlib require. For general information about networks, try reading "Notable Computer Networks", by John Quarterman and Josiah Hoskins, Communications of the ACM, v29, #10, pp. 932-971. This is by far the best introductory paper I have ever seen on computer networks. Chet Ramey chet@mandrill.cwru.edu ...!cbosgd!mandrill!chet
