If you normally don't use the expiration-date field for anything else, this is a convenient way to "touch" the file and thus change its modification date. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Aug 2008 06:22:46 -0700 (PDT) From: johnwallace4@yahoo.co.uk Subject: Re: HP buys EDS Message-ID: On Aug 4, 12:17 am, johnwalla...@yahoo.co.uk wrote: > On Aug 3, 11:29 pm, "winston19842...@yahoo.com" > > > > wrote: > > On Aug 3, 3:10 pm, JF Mezei wrote: > > > > Bill Gunshannon wrote: > > > > was adamant that HP was a hardware company that knew nothing about > > > > software > > > > HP knows that to reach the same size as IBM, it needs to grow its > > > services business. Well, speaking of competent... a joint venture company whose major shareholders include EDS and US defence contractor Cubic just got notice of premature termination of their =A3100M/year 17-year contract to run the ticketing for what passes for "public transport" in London. Termination discussions had been ongoing for some months, but in recent weeks there had been two separate catastrophic failures of the system reported in the UK national press (not just the IT rags). The failures weren't the kind of behaviour you'd expect from a properly designed and implemented VMS-based setup, but the termination of the contract is equally notable as such terminations are remarkably rare. What > additional functionality do you require not provide by this > combo? I do not need "X" at all. Never used it and I do not see any reason since I mostly support VMS systems over long distance, DSL, NAT'er lines. Plain "VT" usualy works just fine. And Reflection is just "better". No macro-language in PuTTY, is there ? And I happen to have a new licensed Reflection 14.0 distribution. And it seems as PuTTY are lacking some emulation setup options. Can't point at anything particular right now, it's more of a "feeling". And no "keyboard-window" in PuTTY, nice when using full-VT-kayboard-apps from my laptop. We'll see what the Attachemate support says next week. Jan-Erik. > >> >> Well, I'm lost, I guess. Yes, with the "normal" interface, if you delete all messages from a folder, then that folder is deleted as well. Note that you can use FILE/NOCONFIRM folder-name if you don't want to be asked whether to create a new folder (e.g. which might be necessary after having deleted all its messages). ------------------------------ End of INFO-VAX 2008.433 ************************
